ART FORM IN NATURE & LIFE BELOW ZERO
Produced/Published: 2011
Medium: 35mm Digital
“Art and nature, two great manifestations in the world around us, are so intimately related that it is impossible to think of one without the other, and so we can never compress them in a single formula.”
"Karl Blossfeldt"
While living in a rural area, I would spend enormous lengths of time exploring nature. I am drawn to the environment and spirit of the natural world, and I believe that the beauty of nature is the more intimate and purest form of art. Each scene occurs only once, and is never to be seen the exact same way again. Those timeless and serene moments of nature often inspires my work.
My work is minimalistic in its form; I frequently combine empty space with lines, which creates a poetic response to the physical world. My intention is to create dynamic rhythms and patterns that can be compared to new age movements in music by using texture and color.
OFF THE ROAD
Medium: 35 mm Digital SLR
Produced/Published: 2017
My journey formally began five years ago when I started to work as a Sports Photographer. I spent most of the time on the road, and eventually, the road became my home. On my way to my jobs, I always knew where the road went, thanks to electronic devices and mass media over all.
One day in my travels, the battery to my smart phone died and I found myself lost off the road. I felt like I lost my sense and broke connection with the outside world – since then, I have been fascinated with that feeling, because it carried me to a world that was unknown and unexperienced before. It drew me to a new sense of wonder about the over human condition.
I try to use my photograph to communicate this feeling, for art is a journey into the unknown and I never know where it will take me.
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD
Medium: Mixed Media Process
Produced/Published: 2020
Henry Miller Stated, “It’s only indicates our persistence in the primitiveness of self-interest”
I used a mixed-media experimental process to create this series by combining images with corrosion metal. Corrosion is the natural process in which metal is gradually destructed by chemical reactions in the environment. This is an incredible medium to work with.; combining the images with lavish blue and gold colored metal set up rhythms and evoked a sense that global warming exists.
Becoming aware of how we treat our planet was a motivating factor behind the creation of my "What does the future hold" series. Metal and the planet Earth are both heavily impacted by their environment. While the process of corrosion is natural process, the physical impact we as humans have on our surroundings is not natural.
We are heading into an unknown future and God has given us the ability to make our own choices. The consequences of our choices show the results of our freedom to express our thoughts.
I tried to convey this feeling in my photography, however, seeing my images does not give us the full experience of what is happing on earth. No one can truly understand the depth of nature’s suffering as we enter into a new stage of the world’s future. Humankind will need to choose to be either: 1) AWAKE - using moral values to prove oneself as a good human being, treating our planet as not the only inhabitants living on it and respecting the other creatures who reside upon on it; or 2) PLEASURE – let capitalist superpowers continue to abuse resources for personal gain blinded by greed and ego. These choices will influence our world’s future.
Before choosing, we should look inward at ourselves and follow with an examination of our hypocritical society that is built on our desires for a material world and is designed to numb us from the true realties of it and the blindness it perpetuates.
When we are so preoccupied, we fail at truly seeing the essence of matter which is hidden from us in our lives. If this happens, the “evidence of vision” disappears and “paradox of vision” applies to what we see and what we desire to see. This is the process that leads the planet Earth into “occidental darkness”.
Are we capable of fundamental changes if need be? Or are we wise enough to know what changes to make? Can we improve our mother Earth and find another way to live?
